The Show

The 2019 RHS Chelsea Flower Show is upon us already and this year is one of the best yet.  The garden designed by the Duchess of Cambridge (drawing huge crowds) has been won by the Devonshire NHS Trust in a national competition and explores the themes of family and mental health – one of this year’s big topics.  There are also the Show Gardens, Artisan Gardens and Space to Grow Gardens with the ever-popular BBC People’s Choice Award still to be revealed.

With ample shopping opportunities, some very appealing eateries and Pimms and champagne flowing, this is a very enjoyable day out.

Open to the public until Saturday 25th it is open until 8pm each evening for those that want to visit after work.

The Power of Plants

This year Chelsea is celebrating the multitude of benefits that gardening has for physical and mental health with designers exploring the positive power of plants on people, places and the planet.

Gardens will explore subjects such as the shrinking eco-system, bio-diversity, creating mindful landscapes within inner cities and the power of herbal medicines.

The Artisan and Space to Grow gardens perfectly capture what can be achieved in a very small space with some beautiful planting.  Some include calming water features and seating areas whilst others are more playful with fun elements for the whole family to enjoy.

Westminster Stone & Alitex

Westminster Stone is very pleased to be collaborating once again with Alitex Greenhouses for their Trade Stand located on Main Avenue. A long-standing partnership, this is the 4th consecutive year that we have laid the paving and flooring for their stand at RHS Chelsea which has yet again won the 5* Trade Stand Award.

For 2019, Alitex is working with Garden and Interior designer Selina Lake who has handled the overall styling, they are also launching their new M&L paint range.

The Stand comprises two structures, the Scotney from the National Trust range and a bespoke lean-to. Westminster Stone’s rustic Jacobean Brick pavers and Ashbourne Beige Porcelain tiles have been laid surrounding the two structures providing beautifully rustic walkways and serene seating areas.  Whilst inside the greenhouses, our beautiful Weathered York flagstones create the perfect aged ambience.
