The 72nd Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod (LIME) begins next week and once again Westminster Stone are the headline sponsor for the International Celebration on Thursday 4th July and sponsor of the Rotary’s International Peace Award 2019.

Eisteddfod has been running every summer since 1947 and comprises 7 days of music and folk dance from around the world.  It provides the audience with an exciting mix of UK and international stars performing alongside relatively unknown musical bands and dance troupes from around the globe.  Eisteddfod promotes competition, performance, peace and friendship.

This year’s line up includes Jools Holland with his Rhythm and Blues orchestra, classical opera from renowned artist Rolando Villazon.  Music of Wales from choral group Saints & Singers, and Celtic Mabon, some exciting salsa & flamenco from the brilliant Gipsy Kings, and Choir of the World with Catrin Finch.  Lastly Llanfest on Sunday 7th July brings a day of festival joy with headlines The Fratellis, The Coral, The Pigeon Detectives and Dodgy.

Westminster Stone are very proud to be involved with LIME once again, which brings happiness and music to over 10,000 people, across all walks of life and from countries around the globe.  The International Celebration showcases some of their amazing musical talent and begins with a carnival of colour as all nations take to the stage.

Rotary International Peace Award
The Rotary International Peace Award recognises an individual or organisation who has contributed to the furtherance of peace and understanding throughout the people of the world.  The first Rotary Peace Award was given in 2016 to Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod and they now provide the platform for the presentation of the prize.

Last year’s winner was Dr Arian and the Arian Foundation for their formidable work in improving medical services in war torn zones such as Afganistan and Syria.  The Foundation uses encrypted social media which enables real-time discussions on the best available care for patients, saving hundreds of lives in areas without proper sanitation or medical supplies.

This amazing Award recognises some incredible organisations and individuals and we are very pleased to sponsor this for 2019.

Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod runs 1-7 July.
